The Gang was formed in January 2009 when Michael Reit (Vocals) left college in Albany, NY to move in across the street from cousin Tobin Salas (Bass). Tobin's childhood friend Nick Wood (Guitar) stepped right up to the line, shaping a new heavy, dirty tone that cuts like a knife. Cornelius Florucci joined the Gang soon after, bringing an explosive original force on the drums. A year later, the group of extremely dedicated friends and musicians bought a van, quit their jobs, sold their belongings, and left on a crash course independent tour of the country. They haven't stopped since. The Gang recently took in a second guitar player, close friend Lenny Sokol! His funky, jazzy, precise guitar tone is to be rivaled by the masses and completes the Gang as the Funky Ass Blast Band. A review of their new album "Dinosaur Sandwich Party" by John Powell praises: "It’s safe to say the Gang is intent on rocking full time, and screw the Man that says they can’t."
The Gang has now performed all over the United States, including a show in Albany, NY with big name artist Skid Row. From the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, MA to the Humboldt Brewery in Arcata, CA, they have stolen hearts and been met with absolute enthusiasm everywhere they play!

The Gang of Thieves are getting ready to come HOME for the summer! We have had so much fun on tour, but we can’t wait to be back on the east coast with our hometown fans, friends and family.
Also, the Gang recorded a new EP this spring in Oakland!! Talented up and coming recording/mixing engineer Alex Riddle did an amazing job with the new tracks, so keep your ears open for the release date!

Hey hey hey! Here is the latest from Gang of Thieves!
We have been nominated for the New England Music Awards for best Band/Act in the state of Vermont! The winners will be announced at the Hard Rock Cafe Boston on March 9th. All votes must be submitted by Midnight February 29th! You can check out the other nominees and vote for us right here.
So far, the Blast Off Tour has been GREAT! We started it off hard, playing five shows in our first week of touring, hopefully you all saw the video from the kick off show (check it out below). First night on the road was spent jamming out at the Middle East (videos are coming!) with our good friends Run Gazelle Run , Boston locals Ocean Transfer, and Berklee student rockers Canary (catch them at SXSW later this month)!
From beantown, we had a run of three nights in a row up and down New York, from Yorktown up to Albany for a Crazyyy time! Then we ended the weekend in Peekskill, rocking out at the Spruce with one of our favorite NY bands Remedy!
We are looking forward to rocking out in New Jersey at the Saint, and the Chameleon in Lancaster before making moves south to Nashville, North Carolina, New Orleans, and whatever the hell Texas has in store for us!
In other news, we have some new music cooking and we’ve added a secret ingredient to this batch of funk! We currently have more videos, another west coast tour, an EP, and even more in the works! Yeah!

Our last show in Burlington, Vermont (for a few months) is coming up next Sunday, January 22nd at Club Metronome!
Torpedo Rodeo will be joining us at the show, so come down to the party and help us kick off our Winter Blast Off Tour!
Our winter tour is going to take us south for the winter! We have shows lined up in NY, NJ, PA, NC, TN and more as we work our way down to New Orleans by the beginning of March. From there we are working hard on getting a slot at SXSW for the biggest music conference/festival the WORLD has to offer! (you can help us get on a showcase by voting for us HERE ) After that, we are heading to the west coast for a spring tour that will last most of April and May. We will be playing shows up and down the entire state of California, visiting all of our west coast friends and family, and hopefully we’ll make our way as far north as Vancouver before we start the summer festival run all the way home!
We should be back in Vermont by mid June/early July for a couple VT music fests (shout out to Rhino Fest, the Funky Rhino wants to ROCK!).
